Cliff Wheatley joined business in 2008

Galliford Try has promoted Cliff Wheatley to its executive board as divisional managing director of its building business.

Wheatley takes up his post at the beginning of next year and will succeed Ian Jubb, who retires at the end of next June after 19 years at the firm.

Wheatley arrived at Galliford Try after the firm bought Miller Construction in 2008.

Galliford Try was promoted to the FTSE250 index earlier this autumn and in a trading update last week said it had secured 82% of its revenue for the current year. It releases its interim results in March.
