Five housing schemes have been assigned gold standard status under the ODPM’s Building for Life.

The schemes are assessed for their design, construction, environmental impact, character, roads, parking and sense of community.

The developments are

1 New Hall in Harlow, Essex, by Cala Homes and Newhall projects with PCKO Architects and Roger Evans Associates

2 West Beach Homes at Horsebridge, Kent, by Clague Architects

3 Caterham barracks in Surrey by Linden Homes and architect John Thompson & Partners

4 A project at Chapel in Southampton by Persimmon and Swaythling Housing Society, with Chetwood Associates as architect

Not pictured is Highgate in Durham, by Bryant Homes Northern with RPS Consultants and Amec Developments as architects.
