The Roadmap to sustainability is aimed at helping developers and designers deliver greener buildings

The UK Green Building Council is to launch a ‘Roadmap to sustainability’, to make it easier for developers and designers to target the most appropriate measures for making buildings more sustainable.

The interactive tool will hold information including key dates for updates to the Building Regulations, targets on energy and waste and reports on actions such as the UKGBC taskgroup’s report on the definition of zero carbon.

Users will be able to search by building lifecycle phase, building type and themes such as water conversation and mitigating climate change and use the information to inform design. It is the first time that an attempt has been made to bring all the information together in one place.

Paul King, UKGBC chief executive, says. “We appreciate that the roadmap doesn’t yet hold all the answers, but it provides a guiding framework that the sector has been so badly lacking. In our second year we will be working with members to continue to set targets on the Roadmap – and crucially bring together the right people for breaking sown barriers that ensures those targets are met”.
