Cartwright Pickard Architects has won planning permission for a residential development on the site of a former school in Midhurst, West Sussex.

The £5.5m plans for St Margaret’s School will provide 49 family houses and flats and 37 retirement homes for the Affinity Sutton housing association.

The scheme includes the full restoration of a Grade II listed Regency Villa and its conversion to residential use.

According to the architects, the new buildings are “clearly of their time but draw inspiration from the past and are respectful of their historic context”.
