Huge mixed-use development by Hamilton Architects receives planning permission

Client Land Securities has been given the go-ahead for one of the biggest developments ever on London's Oxford Street.

The company received planning permission last week for the Hamiltons Architects (formerly Hamilton Associates) redevelopment of Park House - an island site on the south side of Oxford Street near Selfridges and Marble Arch.

The plans for a 335,000 ft2 mixed–use development include 100,000 ft2 of retail, 165,000 ft2 of office and the remaining residential.

This will replace the current 44,000 ft2 of retail at 475-497 Oxford Street.

Robin Partington, director at Hamiltons Architects, said the development would make a fundamental difference to Oxford Street. He said: “Granting consent for this unique mixed use building represents a pivotal moment for this part of London This gives the south western end of Oxford Street the tremendous boost that it clearly needs, vastly improving the retail offer adjacent to the Selfridges department store.”
