Grevemberg to take up his post with immediate effect

David Grevemberg has been appointed as chief executive of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games organising committee.

Grevemberg is due to take up his post as chief executive officer with immediate effect and will be responsible for overseeing the planning and delivery of the games on time and on budget.

He joined the committee as the director of operations in October 2009, and progressed to the role of chief operating officer in July 2010.

Grevemberg was mainly responsible for the planning, management and supervision of the operational aspects of planning for the Games including delivering the athletes village, venue development, cultural activities and support services such as transport and security.
