Around 35 jobs set to go with Walsall factory set to shut
Greensquare Accord has confirmed it will close its loss-making timber frame factory business Low Carbon Living Homes (LoCAL).
The business was put up for sale last autumn with the housing association saying it wanted to focus on strengthening its core social landlord services.
Greensquare Accord’s (GSA) latest financial statements revealed LoCAL made a loss of £1.3m in 2024/25.

At the end of last week, the 25,000-home registered provider said it would move ahead with the closure of the Walsall-based factory. Around 35 staff work at the business.
“Despite our best efforts we have not been able to secure a viable sale and this means we must now move forward with the closure of the factory,” said Mona Shah, chief finance and investment officer at GreenSquare Accord.
“While this is disappointing news, it is a necessary decision in the circumstances. As previously outlined, LoCaL Homes has been operating at a loss and we cannot continue to subsidise this.
“At the same time, GSA faces a challenging financial landscape and must prioritise investment in existing homes over new development.”
The housing association’s latest accounts show It posted a deficit of £13.6m in 2024/25, compared to a surplus of £3.8m last time.
