The Health and Safety Executive this week launched a construction safety blitz on building sites in central London.
A team of HSE inspectors turned up unannounced at sites in the Camden, Euston, King's Cross, and Tottenham Court Road areas in London on Wednesday in an attempt to expose poor safety practice.

The move follows the deaths of 10 workers on building sites in London between April and September last year and a government-led drive to improve safety, which began at February's industry safety summit.

Michael La Rose, the HSE inspector organising the safety blitz, said the executive would be concentrating on four areas: the protection of the public during scaffolding work, falls from height, lifting operations and fire risks during refurbishments.
