Swedish retailer Ikea has appointed Peterborough-based practice Ruddle Wilkinson to help develop its expansion programme.
The Ruddle Wilkinson team will be led by chairman John Durrance, who describes Ikea as "a creative, design-led client".

The 40-strong practice's first jobs will be the developments of stores in north London and the remodelling of its Brent Park shop.

Bath-based practice Stubbs Rich had been Ikea's sole architect since 1992. Ikea decided it needed a second architect because it wants to develop 20 stores over the next 10 years.

Stubbs Rich is now working on a 250,000 ft2 Glasgow store for Ikea, which is due to open in two months.
