Foster and Partners is selected to design music and cultural centre in North Ossetia

Foster and Partners has been selected to create a design proposal for a music and cultural centre for the town of Vladikavkaz in the Russian region of North Ossetia.

The centre, backed by the renowned conductor Valery Gergiev, will include a music school, library and concert venue, the centre will be a focus for regeneration in the region and a symbol of hope for the community.

Norman Foster said: "I am deeply honoured to be working with Valery Gergiev on the creation of a new music centre for Vladikavkaz. This is an opportunity to address the spiritual as well as the practical needs of a community - to provide a symbol for a brighter future for a region that has suffered from a troubled history."
