Home of Scotland’s national football team is transformed to play host to Commonwealth Games’ track and field events

Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow plays host to the track and field events in the Commonwealth Games, which started on Wednesday. The stadium, home of Scotland’s national football team, was transformed for the tournament, with the playing surface raised by 1.9m to change it from a football venue into an athletics track. Glasgow-based firm Malcolm Construction carried out the alterations. The stadium will also host the event’s closing ceremony.
