A new dance building designed by Shedkm for arts charity South East Dance has opened its doors in Brighton.

The BREEAM Excellent building will provide a permanent home for dance in the city with purpose-built rehearsal and performance space.

Situated on Circus Street in Brighton, the building includes a main studio space, bleacher seating, research and community studio, office and ancillary space. Outdoor performance space has also been created.

The building also features a green roof to enhance biodiversity and photovoltaics contribute to the project’s green credentials.

The scheme, which opened last month, is part of developer U+I’s wider Circus Street mixed-use scheme and has received financial backing from the local council and National Lottery funding.
