Web-based software will allow facilities managers at Romford PFI hospital to view building systems via web browsers.

Facilities management group Johnson Controls has won a contract to supply key IT kit for the new £150m Romford PFI hospital.

The firm has won a three-year deal to supply its Metasys web-based system on the 859-bed Bovis Lend Lease scheme. The system allows the building's user real-time viewing of all the building technologies via a web browser. The system will control the hospital's mechanical plant and air conditioning as well as temperature and humidity levels.

Bovis Lend Lease regional director John Howell said the system would allow the PFI consortium better control over the hospital when it is completed. He said: "Ultimately we will deliver a more energy efficient and cost effective hospital, ensuring that it offers the highest quality of service to patients and staff alike."
