Consultancy firm says that volunteers from Dubai office are moving to 'relatively stable' projects in Saudi Arabia

Mace has moved a number of its staff from its Dubai office to work on developments in Saudi Arabia because of a slowdown in work.

The global consultancy firm has offices throughout the GCC, and is using existing employees based in the emirate to staff offices in Saudi Arabia and France.

Ian Tarry, the company’s Middle East director, told Arabian Business: “We have tried to protect as many people as we can and that’s involved some relocations to other geographic locations. In some instances it’s meant relocation into other parts of the business with a new scope of work.

He added that staff who had been relocated to Saudi Arabia had volunteered to do so.

In December, Tarry said a number of redundancies had been made in the Dubai office.

He added that projects in Saudi Arabia and Qatar were continuing despite the economic downturn, “not necessarily at the rate of knots that it was, but it seems to be relatively stable”.
