Steve Foster takes control of demolition contractor as Darren Palin leaves following company restructuring

Controlled Demolition managing director, Darren Palin has left the company to “pursue other interests” following a restructuring of the business. Steve Foster replaces Palin.

Company owner, Richard Burt said: “We have spent the last year consolidating our position at the quality end of the market, concentrating on specialist, value-added jobs and repeat business with clients that have a strong safety culture, rather than chasing high turnover.”

The Wakefield-based company, which is rebranding itself as Controlled Group, slipped briefly into administration last September when it was purchased by Burt for a reported £1.93m.

Foster has established five new divisions at the firm to cover explosive demolition, traditional demolition, asbestos removal, decommissioning and land remediation.

Controlled Demolition is close to sealing four explosives contracts worth over £1m to demolish office blocks in Mozambique and Abu Dhabi, a shopping centre in Turkey and a hotel in Jordan.
