Wrenn leaves Royal Society of Architects in Wales to become chief executive of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.

The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland has appointed Mary Wrenn as its new chief executive.

Wrenn is currently director of the Royal Society of Architects in Wales, a post she has held since 1993. She will replace Sebastian Tombs who has held the post of chief executive for ten years.

RIAS president Gordon Murray said the organisation would use Wrenn’s appointment as an opportunity to change the approach of RIAS.

He said: “It is important that we broaden our membership base, particularly among young architects. In addition we must reinforce our working relationships with complementary organisations.”

Murray said that Wreen had transformed the profile of architects in Wales partly by establishment working relationships with the Welsh Assembly Government and the Design Commission for Wales.
