Westminster council to rule on Adjyae-designed mixed-use scheme opposite the Ritz
Adjaye Associates has submitted plans for the £600m redevelopment of an entire city block opposite the Ritz in Mayfair.
The scheme, known as One Berkeley Street, also addresses Piccadilly and Dover Street.
Adjaye landed his biggest London project to date at the start of last year against competition from Frank Gehry, Jean Nouvel, Eric Parry and Rem Koolhaas’s practice OMA.
The brief was “to provide a beautiful addition to the Piccadilly streetscape and create a building worthy of being opposite the Ritz”.
Client Crosstree Real Estate Management said: “The intention is to redevelop the site to provide a mixed-use building with high-quality hotel, retail and residential accommodation. A new area of public realm will also be created in Dover Yard.”
The site is predominantly made up of a collection of post-war buildings.
The aim is to get Breeam “excellent” for the hotel and retail and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 for the residential.
