Simon Kydd spent three years at Wates in similar role
Sir Robert McAlpine has appointed a new health sector managing director to replace incumbent Stuart McArthur who is stepping down after a decade at the firm.
Simon Kydd joined earlier this week, having left Wates at the end of 2024, where he was the firm’s director of education and healthcare, before setting up his own consultancy business.
Prior to joining Wates in 2021, he was WSP’s head of healthcare.

McAlpine’s Integrated Health Projects (IHP), the firm’s healthcare joint venture with Vinci, is one of 10 firms on the framework for the government’s New Hospital Programme.
Last month, IHP was awarded a deal to redevelop Leighton Hospital in Crewe for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The first wave of deals under the programme are mainly aimed at fixing those hospitals affected by RAAC.
