Firm to build second phase of Ebury Bridge job which includes 330 homes
McLaren is set to get going with the next phase of a £350m scheme to rebuild a 1930s estate in Pimlico after the job was given Gateway 2 approval by the Building Safety Regulator.
Westminster council has previously described the 779-home Ebury Bridge scheme, designed by Astudio Architects, as the borough’s “largest and most significant redevelopment project in a generation”.
Bouygues carried out the £100m first phase on the scheme with McLaren picking up the £229m second phase at the start of the year.
Westminster city council has now been given the green light for the work which comprises three independent and two adjoined buildings.
Paul Woodhams, managing director for regeneration at McLaren’s construction arm, said: “This is a complex project with five buildings which required four separate building safety applications and approvals and the team has done a fantastic job in securing a successful outcome.”
Phase 2 of the scheme involves building 334 homes, 228 of which are for social rent.
The Ebury Bridge estate was originally built in the 1930s with the overall scheme granted planning by then London mayor Boris Johnson in 2015.
Construction is due to complete in May 2029.
