Firm carries out reshuffle at top of business
McLaren is carrying out a rejig which will see main board director John Butten moved into a new role.
Butten is currently managing director of the construction arm’s regeneration business, having joined the firm 11 years ago from Balfour Beatty where he spent close to 25 years.
Butten was appointed to the main board six years ago when he was leading the major projects business.
But major projects is now led by Vince Lydon, who arrived last summer, and who also leads a newly created construction management business.
Butten is understood to be moving to a new role at McLaren’s developments business although precise details remain unclear. It is not known whether he will stay on the main board.
McLaren group chief executive Paul Heather said: “After 11 years of dedication to the McLaren Construction business, John is moving to a more strategic role focusing on a sister company within the group. John has been responsible for some of our most impressive projects during his time at McLaren Construction and we wish him every success in his new role.”
McLaren also announced that former operations director Paul Woodhams will now lead the regeneration business along with its building safety and refurbishment division which he has been heading since last autumn.
Heather added: “Following John’s move, Paul Woodhams will now lead our McLaren Regeneration, Building Safety & Refurbishment division, reporting directly to myself.”
Earlier this year, McLaren said pre-tax profit jumped to £11.9m in the year to July 2024 on turnover down 4% to £924m.
