Deal also includes building new training college

McLaren’s construction management business has won a contract to build an accommodation campus at the Sizewell C nuclear power station in Suffolk.

As well as the campus, the deal also includes a deal to build a training college at nearby Leiston as well as constructing an amenity building, project office and emergency response building at the Sizewell site.

The accommodation block will provide space for more than 2,000 workers with McLaren’s deal lasting three years.

McLaren launched its CM business nearly two years ago under the stewardship of Vince Lydon, Sir Robert McAlpine’s former deputy managing director for its London business.

Lydon, who is also is managing director of its specialist projects division, has previously said the focus will be on large scale real estate and public sector projects.

Speaking about the Sizewell job, he said: “Delivering construction management services for one of the most nationally significant infrastructure projects in the UK is testament to the track record and capability of our team.”
