Scheme involves building combat air facility at engineering giant’s Bristol site

McLaughlin & Harvey has won a £100m-plus contract to build a new combat air facility for Rolls-Royce in Bristol.

Work will begin later this year at the Gipsy Patch site with Rolls-Royce saying the work “will provide a dedicated space for research, manufacturing, and assembly, creating significant capability for new product development for the future of air combat”.

Rolls said the development would support faster product development and improve efficiency across its Bristol operations.

Paul Pennington, senior vice president of infrastructure, defence, Rolls-Royce, said: “We are creating a space for state-of-the-art technology development, to ensure we meet our ambitious customer commitments while future-proofing our capabilities for decades to come.”
