The Construction Products Association, Capita Symonds and Edward Cullinan Architects are among the latest organisations to sign up to Building’s Charter 284 campaign.

The campaign, which is calling on the next government to invest in key construction areas to support the wider economy, has attracted the backing of about 60 construction companies, all of the biggest trade federations in housebuilding, contracting and manufacturing, and more than 100 individuals.

Michael Ankers, chief executive of the Construction Products Association, said: “Not since the work to repair the damage caused by the Second World War has the construction industry had such an important role in leading economic recovery.”
