Biggest single contract to date boosts group’s performance.

Services group Mouchel Parkman plc says that its order book has reached a record £1 bn at the end of July 2005, up £150 m on the same time last year. In a trading statement issued ahead of its close period, the group said performance for the year would be in line with expectations.

The group has recently been appointed preferred bidder for a 15-year ‘bundled’ services contract with Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, and has been awarded a three-year children’s services contract with North East Lincolnshire Council. Additionally, it has won several contracts in the water and highways sectors, including a six-year contract with Shropshire County Council to act as engineering consultant for a renewal project.

The group says that the integration of recent acquisition ServiRail, and the start of a new joint venture with Accord plc are both going smoothly.

Chief executive Richard Cuthbert said: “We have made good progress on a number of fronts. The Rochdale commission is our largest single contract win to date and, together with the other contract wins and extensions during the period, maintains the high visibility of our future earnings. The acquisition of ServiRail and the joint venture with Accord are also extremely exciting developments and are further evidence of the Group's gathering momentum.”

The Group will announce its preliminary results for the year ending 31 July 2005 in October.
