Wembley client is understood to be about to pay an extra £30m-40m to avoid an expensive court battle over design changes

Wembley client WNSL and contractor Multiplex are on the brink of signing a deal to end their dispute on the troubled stadium.

The deal is understood to involve WNSL making an extra payment to Multiplex of between £30m and £40m. This would avoid an expected £150m court battle between the parties.

News of the deal, which could be concluded within the next few days, comes after Multiplex and WNSL cancelled a High Court appearance on the case last week. The two parties have been at war over who is responsible for delays to the stadium, which is now expected to be ready for next year’s FA Cup final.
