The development arm of Multiplex has appointed Belfast contractor McLaughlin & Harvey to carry out refurbishment work in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

It is understood that McLaughlin & Harvey will carry out a £13m refurbishment of the Octagon shopping centre, which adjoins Multiplex’s £291m mixed-use Eden centre development, where Multiplex is also the contractor.

The work will involve remodelled the Octagon’s ceilings and lighting, and completing a full internal redecoration. The shopping centre was built in the 1970s.

Multiplex’s Eden centre scheme involves the development of 280,000ft2 of retail space, and leisure facilities, including a cinema and bowling centre.

Eden will be one of only threelarge UK schemes being undertaken by the company once its troubled Wembley stadium project reaches completion.
