Greg Fitzgerald, managing director of the housing division, to take up new role from July, as David Calverley becomes chairman.

Galliford Try has promoted Greg Fitzgerald, the managing director of their housebuilding division, to chief executive with effect from 1 July 2005.

He replaces David Calverley, who is due to take up the position of chairman in October.

Tony Palmer, the current chairman, who will be retiring in October, said: "Greg Fitzgerald is an outstanding businessman with experience of both construction and housebuilding who has the ability and drive to generate increasing shareholder value."

The group also released their interim results today for the half year ended 31 December 2004. Turnover remains steady at £347m with profit before tax up 22%.
