DLR project for AMEC, Carillion closes on Canadian deals

Amec’s joint venture with the Royal Bank of Scotland has been named preffered bidder for the £200 million Docklands Light Railway extension to Woolwich. The 50/50 venture, Woolwich Arsenal Rail Enterprises (WARE) expects to reach financial close in time for construction work to begin in the spring of 2005. The contract includes managing the design, build, finance and maintenance of the 2.5-kilometre extension, lasting 30 years.

In other contract news, Carillion has secured £100 million worth of contracts in joint ventures with its partners in Canada, to build the PPP Royal Ottawa Hospital and, in a separate contract, to maintain a chunk of the road network around Hamilton in Ontario.
