Scheme for university to start next year

Plans by HLM for a new building at Sheffield university have been approved by the city council.

The four-storey scheme for the university’s social sciences faculty will be built on a sports pitch in the Broomhill area of the city, just to the west of the university’s main campus.

Work on the new 17,000m² building will start early next year and will finish in spring 2020.

The social sciences faculty is the university’s largest, with more than 9,000 students – accounting for a third of the university’s total student population.
