No invtiation to tender yet, but authority is seeking views from contractors, engineers and designers
Newcastle City Council is undertaking preliminary market engagement for its plan to build more than 700 social rented homes.
The council was one of three local authorities named as a strategic partner of Homes England in the Social and Affordable Housing Programme first wave allocations in August.

Newcastle secured £141.4m of government funding from the programme to deliver 966 new council homes.
In a notice published on Tuesday, the council set out a planned eight-year delivery framework, which will include a range of small sites of 4 to 10 units and infill development opportunities of 11 to 20 units.
The proposed scope might also include modern methods of construction, enabling works and infrastructure, as well as design support and architectural services.
“The council is seeking engagement from suitably experienced organisations, including main contractors, SME builders, MMC manufacturers, civil engineering contractors, consultants and design teams,” it said.
“The engagement will help the council understand market capacity, potential delivery approaches, barriers to participation and views on the proposed structure of the framework.”
As the process remains at a planning stage, there is no invitation to tender, but the council said it was considering an open-procedure framework, with a single lot marked as suitable for SMEs. The contract period would run from April 2027 to April 2035.
