Contractor follows Kier, Durkan and Galliford Try after seeking legal advice

Contractor North Midland has appealed against the £1.54m fine imposed by the Office of Fair Trading in September.

North Midland said in a statement to the city it had appealed against the fine after taking legal advice, but did not give any further information. It did not say whether it was appealing against the actual findings by the OFT that it had engaged in cover pricing, or whether it was merely appealing the size of the fine.

North Midland was one of 103 firms fined £129.5m by the OFT in the autumn for engaging in cover pricing or other bid-rigging activities.

North Midland's move follows appeals by Kier, Durkan, and Galliford Try amongst others in recent weeks.
