Japanese firm expected to wrap up £490m deal for Canadian-owned contractor this month
A senior figure from Obayashi Corporation has been appointed a director of Multiplex in Europe.
A filing made at Companies House shows that Tsukasa Nakao was made a director last week. According to his LinkedIn, Nakao is a general manager in charge of the firm’s corporate strategy and growth.
Obayashi’s deal for Multiplex is set to be formally wrapped up this month after Brookfield, the Canadian owner of Multiplex, said over the summer it was selling the contractor to the Japanese firm for US$650m (£490m).

Tokyo-based Obayashi, one of Japan’s largest construction groups, is buying Multiplex’s operations across Australia, UK, Canada and India. Last year, Obayashi posted a turnover $17.5bn (£13bn).
The firm is currently developing 60 Gracechurch Street in the City which is due to be built by Bovis.
Multiplex was founded in Perth, Australia, in 1962 by the late John Roberts and made its entrance into the UK by agreeing to rebuild Wembley when it signed a deal for the work in 2000.
