Consultant engineer Oscar Faber has bought sustainable development specialist ECD Energy and Environment.
The firm will form the kernel of a sustainability group, alongside an energy and environment team and an applied research team.

Oscar Faber hopes the move will create a holistic approach to sustainability. A spokesperson said: "ECD has specialised in sustainable development at both an individual building and community level across Europe, and Oscar Faber has been involved in large-scale regeneration, both housing and commercial."

Oscar Faber director Stephen Faber added that the acquisition will help the company become more involved with pre-planning issues.

Oscar Faber and ECD declined to say how much the deal was worth. ECD has used BREEAM assessment, the environmental sensitivity award, on more than 1.5 million m2 of office space in the past three years.
