Decrease came from slips in new work and repair and maintenance
Construction output slipped into reverse in October, latest ONS figures have revealed.
Output shrank by 0.6% during the month which followed a 0.2% increase in September.
The decrease in monthly output in October came from falls in both new work, and repair and maintenance, which fell by 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively, the ONS said.

Output for the three months to October was also down – by 0.3%.
Four out of the nine sectors fell back during the quarter with the biggest faller being a decrease in private housing repair and maintenance, which slipped by 2.3%.
Overall, repair and maintenance fell by 1% during the three months although new work grew by 0.1%. Here, the largest positive contributor came from public other new work, which grew by 5.7%.
Overall GDP fell by 0.1% in October, the ONS said, following a fall of 0.1% in September. GDP was flat in August.
Meanwhile, payroll firm Hudson Contract said a wet November and Budget uncertainty saw average earnings for self-employed tradespeople fell 0.5% to £1,070 per week last month.
