Leisure PFIs help Parkwood Holdings to increase interim turnover by 29% to £31.2m.

Support Services group Parkwood Holdings has announced a 29% increase in turnover to £31.2m amid increased activity in the PFI sector. Pre-tax profit was £0.51m for the six months to June 2004.

Parkwood announced that a £14m PFI project with Breckland Council in Norfolk will reach financial close before the end of 2004, and said that it has preferred bidder status for a £12m leisure project with the London Borough of Croydon.

Two leisure projects are currently in their construction phase. Joint venture Boxwood leisure is building a swimming pool in Erith and extending another facility in Bexleyheath for the London Borough of Bexley, while Penzance Leisure, wholly owned by Parkwood, is building a new swimming pool in Penzanze.

Parkwood PFI Projects is currently bidding for an MOD facility for 1,800 staff at Corsham near Bath. Parkwood is part of a consortium including Amec, which made its bid last week under the name Realm Communication Services. The preferred bidder will be announced next year.
