Demolition starts on Birmingham studios as regional development agency seeks occupants from healthcare and science sectors.

Work has started on the demolition of Pebble Mill in Birmingham to make way for a £100m science and technology park.

The park is expected to consist of research and development facilities for the medical and healthcare industries.

Regional development agency Advantage West Midlands has a 95-year lease on the site from Calthorpe Estates and both organisations are looking at potential occupants of the first phase of the park.

Advantage West Midlands chief executive John Edwards said: “The demolition of Pebble Mill is the first step on the way to creating what will undoubtedly be a world class facility.”
