Hull-based developer seeking revised permission after hotel brand Moxy joins project
Wykeland Group has submitted plans for a new hotel in the centre of Hull.
The commercial property developer already has planning permission for a hotel on the site, which is opposite the city’s Connexin Live arena, but is looking to revise it after bringing onboard the Marriott-owned Moxy brand.

Jonathan Stubbs, development director of Hull-based Wykeland, said the revisions would ”ensure the building reflects the stylish Moxy brand”.
Subject to approval, Wykeland would invest £25m in realising the scheme, which is part of its wider regeneration of the area, which has seen the nearby Castle Buildings and Earl de Grey pub restored.
The revised plans are for a seven-storey hotel with 122 rooms, a ground-floor bar and food area, a gym, a business section and a relaxation space.
“We’re proud of our work to restore Castle Buildings and the Earl de Grey and the development of a Moxy hotel would complete this prominent development site, as well as being an impressive addition to the Hull skyline,” said Stubbs.
