Nearly 700 homes earmarked for site near Fairfield Halls
Studio Egret West has submitted a planning application for three residential towers in Croydon, the tallest of which will be 42 storeys.
The south London scheme, submitted on behalf of Croydon Developments Ltd, forms part of the wider Fair Field Masterplan, is set to be built adjacent to Fairfield Halls and Croydon College.
As well as 676 new homes, the proposals, called the Tapestry, include flexible ground floor space for retail, café and restaurant uses, a primary care medical facility and a nursery. The scheme also includes new public realm and landscaping.
Studio Egret West is acting as both architect and landscape architect, with DP9 the planning consultant.
Others working on the job include M&E consultant Hoare Lea, QS Core Five and structures consultant Whitby Wood.
The site was previously earmarked for development by the former council-owned housing company Brick by Brick which was wound down several years ago.
A 2019 planning application by MICA Architects for a five-block residential scheme was approved by Croydon’s planning committee the following April but the scheme was not progressed.
The council later sold the site for approximately £20m the following year. Delta Properties is promoting the scheme on the developer’s behalf.
