Survey reveals that builders, plumbers, roofers and plasterers rip off more customers than any other trade.
Plumbers, builders and plasters have taken the dubious honour of topping a poll of Britain’s biggest cowboy traders.
In a survey of 1,000 people by insurance broker Swinton 27% said they were victims of rogue plumbers, while 16% suffered at the hands of dodgy builders and 8% were conned by roofers and plasterers.
Nearly 1m people are being ripped off every year by rogue traders according to the research.
Swinton said that the survey revealed 1.8m people had suffered damage to their property as a result of rogue traders. The survey also revealed that only 17% refused to pay for the botched work.
