Barratt, George Wimpey and Persimmon can all lay claim to the title of the nation’s top housebuilder.

Barratt was the biggest in terms of units built in 2003, George Wimpey boasted the highest turnover and Persimmon was the largest UK housebuilder by profit.

These findings feature in the Private Housebuilding Annual 2004, written by industry expert Fred Wellings and published this week by Building in association with RSM Robson Rhodes. The annual gives a guide to more than 100 of the UK’s leading housebuilders, and includes a league table of companies by unit output.
