Peter Wooliscroft leaves the Procure 21 NHS procurement strategy after five years in charge.

Peter Wooliscroft has stepped down as head of the Procure 21 NHS procurement strategy.

The news came as the Department of Health announced that Procure 21 will be transferred from the Commercial Directorate to the DH Estates and Facilities Management division from January 2006.

Wooliscroft led Procure 21 from the start and created the team in 2001. The DH said in a statement: "Peter’s secondment from the NHS was shortly coming to the end of its five-year span, and he has decided that he has taken the programme as far as he can and wishes to use this opportunity to take up new challenges elsewhere."

The DH acknowledged that Wooliscroft’s departure had led to unease at Procure 21. The statement said: “We recognise that there has been uncertainty felt by staff, suppliers and customers of ProCure21 as to the future of ProCure21. Despite this, the ProCure21 team continues to progress and support the initiative. You can be assured that all current schemes will remain unaffected and fully supported.”
