Firm says better project selection behind increase
Bolton contractor Seddon Construction saw profit jump tenfold last year, the firm has said in its latest accounts filed at Companies House.
The firm turned in a pre-tax profit of £2.3m from a £237,000 profit last time which it put down to better project selection and targeting a range of projects including new build and refurbishment work in social housing.
But revenue fell 12% to £138m which the firm blamed on delays to public sector jobs following last year’s general election.
The firm is the largest part of Seddon Group which also includes a property arm and a recycling business.
Group turnover fell 11% to £144m but pre-tax profit was up one third to £6.1m with all its businesses making a profit.
