Construction firms have become more punctual and productive, but clients are less happy with them, and their environmental performance, a report claims.

The 2007 Constructing Excellence Key Performance Indicators report showed that since last year, “project time predictability” has risen from 44% to 58%, and each worker contributes £42,000 of value, up from £28,000 in 2002. Firms reporting no accidents doubled to 62% in the same period.

However, client satisfaction fell to 75% from 79% the previous year and only 75% said contractors provided value for money, down from 80%.

Only 51% of clients rated contractors’ environmental impact as good, down from 54%.
