Marley Plumbing and Drainage has launched a soil and waste pipe system that attenuates the noise generated by water flowing through the pipe. Called Marley dBlue, the system is for use in apartment blocks and high-end developments. The company says the system reduces airborne and structural noise to a level of 19db. The pipes include a triple layer construction - the inner layer resists temperatures up to 90°C, the middle layer is made from modified polypropylene with mineral fillers said to reduce noise transmission and the outer layer offers good impact resistance and protection against bad weather. The system also has a specially designed pipe clamp. This contains cushioned inlays to stop vibration being transmitted to the building to which the pipework is fixed.
