Redrow chief executive Paul Pedley earned £557,000 in the 12 months to 30 June.
The 49-year-old's pay packet, which included a bonus of £153,000, was up £26,000 on the previous year.

It was a good year for the six executive and four non-executive directors of the firm. They earned a total of £2.9m, up from less than £2m in the previous 12 months.

Brian Harvey, chairman of Redrow's northern region, was the second highest earner, taking home £348,000. In the preceding 12 months Harvey was paid £306,000. Redrow chairman Robert Jones earned £100,000 – almost double that of the next-best-paid non-executive director.

The figures are revealed in Redrow's annual report and accounts. In it chief executive's review, Pedley said the housebuilding industry will need to improve its construction methods if government initiatives result in an increase of the supply of land.

Redrow has undertaken a 12-month review of its own design and construction practices in anticipation of these initiatives.
