The government has identified 10 key criteria that contractors can use to keep their staff happy.
The criteria will be used as key performance indicators and work with Rethinking Construction's Respect for People trials before being officially released in the spring. The new KPIs will form part of two Rethinking Construction toolkits launched last week.

The KPIs include analysis of worker satisfaction, staff turnover, sickness absence, safety, working hours, travelling time, diversity, training, pay and Investor in People status.

Respect for People project manager Adrian Terry said a commitment to people is one of the drivers for change for Sir John Egan's strategic forum.

He said: "These measures can help us deliver the working environment to create conditions in the industry that assist in achieving that."
