The Department of Education and Skills will be the first department to have its procurement capabilities reviewed by the OGC

The review of the government's procurement capabilities will start with the Department of Education and Skills next month.

The OGC has been charged with improving procurement skills across all departments as part of its own restructuring in January.

OGC chief executive John Oughton today said that the start of the process would be the DFES.

Oughton confirmed his departure from the OGC at the end of March. He said he would be taking a break after 32 years as a civil servant and would not be seeking another full time executive role.
