Ken Livingstone’s architecture advisor is also appointed professor of urban design at the London School of Economics.

Ricky Burdett’s position as Advisor on Architecture to the Mayor of London has been extended until the end of 2007.

Burdett will continue to work with chief advisor Richard Rogers, Transport for London and the London Development Agency to improve the quality of architecture and urban design in London.

In particular he will be involved in the implementation of the Mayor of London’s 100 Public Spaces Programme, and urban initiatives in the Thames Gateway.

The London School of Economics has also appointed Burdett as Centennial Professor in Architecture and Urbanism. Burdett stepped down as director of the LSE Cities Programme when he began his role in the LSE’s first ever professorship of urban design on 1 January
