The RICS launched a £40 000 brand image this week in an attempt to emphasise its international identity.
The logo, shown below, avoids the royal connotations of its 130-year-old predecessor. It is expected to help increase foreign membership 40% over the next four years. Currently, the overseas market accounts for 20% of membership.

The revamped identity, part of the institution's Agenda for Change programme, is to be gradually phased in by the end of this year.

RICS president Jonathon Harris said: "We are the only organisation in the world to offer a globally recognised qualification in land property and the built environment.

"Every month last year, we accredited a course abroad. There are around 50 universities outside the UK with RICS accreditation and three in China."
