QS Cyril Sweett consultant on Sighthill campus in Edinburgh

Napier University in Edinburgh has been given the go-ahead for the redevelopment of its Sighthill campus as part of a £100m estates strategy.

The City of Edinburgh Council approved the RMJM Architects-designed scheme, which will bring the faculty of Health, Life & Social Sciences under one roof and provide teaching and research facilities for 5,000 students and staff.

The design team, led by RMJM, includes Jones Lang LaSalle, Heery International, Buro Happold and QS Cyril Sweett.

Paul Rodgers, RMJM director, said: “A key milestone has been reached by the council’s decision. We are looking forward to working closely with all parties involved to ensure that the new campus reflects the needs of a modern university.”

Demolition work has already begun and Sighthill is expected to re-open in time for the start of the academic year in 2010/11.
